With a resounding shift from old values, I find that my younger clients invariably ask for a short, quick, light hearted wedding ceremony.
This seems a far-cry from the draconian dusty, drab, and (often) cliched ceremonies of many denominational institutions. It is also an indication that Gen ‘Y’ is clearly making decisions that are moving away from decades-old traditions.
I am a keen advocate of the short ceremony, whilst I find that many guests are scarred from previous wedding (fatigue) ceremony experiences. Apart from the obvious refreshing aspect of a short marriage ceremony, there is also the consideration for the elderly, and the parents of young children (notwithstanding weather considerations).
With more than 70% of marriage ceremonies now conducted in a civil manner, it is not surprising that short marriage ceremonies are booming in popularity.
